$18 million for a Website

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/beltway-confidential/A-gold-plated-Recovery-20-50395992.html

So when I saw the headline Is $18 millions dollars too much for a website? I knew it had to be a government website. And I was right, the White House decided it would be a good idea to redesign the Recovery.org site that tracks stimulus spending in great detail, because the old design was not working very well. The new contract includes about $9.5 million to design the site and an additional $8.5 million to maintain through 2014. I find it ironic that we are wasting $18 million on a site that tracks the government wasting our money, which they like to call stimulating the economy (looked at unemployment numbers lately, there is no stimulating going on). Not to mention there are private websites they are doing basically the same thing for around $100 thousand or so. Once again another fine case of government waste, and people actually want them to run health care in this country? No one will be able to afford to die!
