OK this is one of those things that drives me absolutely nuts. How can Congress vote on something that they haven't read? Common sense says you can't make an informed vote unless you know what you are voting on. I won't sign up for a Blockbuster card without reading the terms and conditions. I understand these guys are busy with issues like investigating steroids in baseball and whether or not there should be an NCAA playoff system. But maybe they should quit getting involved in so many issues that they don't have any business being involved in, then they would have plenty of free time to read the bills of things that actually are of importance to the future of this country. And to the Democrat Members of Congress who thought it was cute to hire a speed reader because the Republicans forced you to have a bill read aloud before a vote you better be glad you don't live in my district or I would do everything in my power to make sure you don't get re-elected. It is time to wake up people and kick these bums out of office!

C-Span Observations
So the House is set to vote on "Cap and Tax" today and I decided to watch some of the proceedings on C-SPAN. This is the first time I have watched C-SPAN in several years since I had to watch it back in high school for some reason or another. Maybe it is because I am more politically in tune then I used to be or maybe the issue at hand is just more interesting to me but I actually found it at least watchable and some times even humorous. The Representative who told the House that this bill would "send jobs to China, and send the economy straight to hell" is spot on.

Mark Sanford Admits to Affair
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0609/24146.html
Man I really hate to read this. I had alot of respect for Governor Sanford after the way he tried to do everything in his power to refuse the stimulus money. He was forced to take it by the federal government after multiple rejections by him. He was considered by many to be a potential Republican candidate for the 2012 elections and I really liked his chances. Time for the media to demand his resignation or impeachment and act like there has never been a Democrat who has done this.

I guess Congress has nothing better to do
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/06/18/AR2009061803877.html?hpid=moreheadlines
So evidently our fearless leaders in DC have nothing better to do with their time and our tax dollars than to apologize for something that happened well over a hundred years ago. I agree slavery was wrong and immoral but it ended in December of 1865. There is not anyone who is alive today that was a slave and I would imagine very few if any still alive whose parent was a slave. This is the same Congress who hired a speed reader to get a bill read before voting on it, and the same Congress who didn't even take the time to read the Omnibus spending bill before signing it into law. They are now trying to rush through health care and don't want to take the time to analyze any of these extremely important bills that cost us taxpayers billions of dollars but they find time to apologize for slavery. We need to vote every single one of these people out of office.

Bravo to you Representative Michelle Bachman
http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/jun/17/exclusive-minn-lawmaker-fears-census-abuse/
Hats off to you Representative Bachman for telling the Federal Government it isn't any of your damn business what goes on in my home. She has said that she will write the number of people in her household on the 2010 census and nothing more. Her claim is that the Constitution doesn't require any more information and she is worried about ACORN's involvement in the census taking. I agree with her one hundred percent. ACORN has been charged with several fraud cases and is being investigated in a couple of states as we speak. If they think I am going to give these people any information they are crazy. Also, the government doesn't need to worry about my income, education level, and what time I leave for work in the morning. I understand the need to know how many people are living in the house because it sets up Congressional districts and how these dividing lines are drawn, but they don't need anything else. According to a spokesperson for the U.S. Census Bureau, Rep. Bachman is misreading the law and that someone can be fined up to $5,000 for refusing to answer any questions on the form. Don't know if I will get a long form or not so this may not be an issue but I have a whole lot of respect for anyone who does exactly as Representative Bachman is talking about doing.

President Bush suddenly remembered his Conservative values
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/06/18/bush-takes-swipes-obama-policies/
So evidently former President Bush didn't forget all of those Conservative values he campaigned upon. He just decided not to act on any of them while he was in office. Giving a speech the other night you would think he was Ronald Reagan. He had some real gems in his speech such as "You can spend your money better than the government can spend your money" and "Government does not create wealth. The major role for the government is to create an environment where people take risks to expand the job rate in the United States" and others that were met with great applause. If only the man whose terms in office gave us the TARP bill, Amnesty for Illegals, the largest federal budget until Obama took over, and other countless non-conservative policies, acted more like the man who gave that speech last night we wouldn't have some of the problems we are dealing with today.

"An Open Letter to our Country" by Janet Contreras
This is a letter that was sent in to Glenn Beck by a concerned patriot. I think this woman has described what many are feeling better than we could describe it ourselves. Thank you for this wonderful letter Ms. Contreras.
I am Janet Contreras, a concerned, home-grown American citizen. I am 53, and I have been a registered Democrat all of my adult life. Before the last Presidential election, I registered Republican because I no longer feel the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. I now no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me.
There must be someone, please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me you are there and are willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please do it now.
You might ask yourselves what my views and issues are that I would feel so horribly disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me? These are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:
* Illegal Immigration—I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S. I am not a racist. This not to be confused with legal immigration.
* TARP Bill—I want it repealed and no further funding supplied to it. We told you “NO!” but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze! Repeal!
* Czars—I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the Czars. No more Czars. Government officials answer to the process not the President. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.
* Cap & Trade—the debate on global warming is NOT over, there IS more to say.
* Universal Health Care—I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don’t you dare pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!
* Growing Government Control—I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Please mind your own business; you have enough to do with your REAL obligations. Let’s start there.
* ACORN—I do not want ACORN or its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them on every real estate deal that closes. Stop all funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audit and investigation. I do not trust them with the taking of the census or with taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before the taxpayers get any further involved with them. It walks like a duck and talks like a duck—hello… stop protecting political buddies. You work for the people. Investigate.
* Redistribution of Wealth—No. If I work for it, it is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth I support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do want me to hate my employers? What do your have against shareholders making a profit?
* Charitable Contributions—although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities where we know our needs best and can use local talent and resources. Butt out, please. We want to do this ourselves.
* Corporate Bail Outs—knock it off! Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we will be better off just getting to it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful, like ripping off a band aid. We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us a chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.
* Transparency and Accountability—how about it? No really, let’s have it. Let’s say we give the “buzz” words a rest and have some straight, honest talk. Please stop trying to manipulate and appease me with cleaver wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.
* Unprecedented Quick Spending—stop it, now. Take a breath. Listen to “The People.”
Let’s just slow down and get some more input from some “non-politicians” on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law.
I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant nor a violent person. I am a mother and grandmother. I am a working woman. I am busy, busy, busy and tired, tired, tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawns and wash our cars on weekends, and be responsible, contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same, all the while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.
I entrusted you with upholding our Constitution and believed in the checks and balances to keep you from getting too far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think that I find humor in hiring a speed reader to unintelligibly ramble through a bill you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not! It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face! I am not laughing—the arrogance!
Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it, but you expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children? We did not want that TARP bill. We said “NO!” We would repeal it if we could. I am not sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all the recent spending. From my perspective, it seems that you have all gone insane.
I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back!
You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington. Our president often knows all the right buzzwords is unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don't want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we're morons.
We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we're so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work , pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn't ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us when hewill rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.
Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don't care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.

Change to a more Transparent White House
So going back to the campaign days President Obama has been talking about hope and change repeatedly. One of the changes was to make government more transparent for the American citizens. So lets see how that change has worked out so far. Obama promised to put all non-emergency bills on the white house website for citizens to view before he signed them. Well so far he has expanded SCHIP, passed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and the Credit Card Bill of Rights bill among others all without meeting the 5 day promise. And now he is blocking access to White House visitor logs. This is a policy stance taken from the Bush administration who said it was no one else's business who was coming to visit him at the White House. The only problem is that a Federal Judge has ruled twice that this information is not private. So much for transparency.

"ABC News to run Obama Infomercial"
Checking out the drudgereport.com I find the following story:
ABC TURNS PROGRAMMING OVER TO OBAMA; NEWS TO BE ANCHORED FROM INSIDE WHITE HOUSE
"On the night of June 24, the media and government become one, when ABC turns its programming over to President Obama and White House officials to push government run health care -- a move that has ignited an ethical firestorm! Highlights on the agenda: ABC NEWS anchor Charlie Gibson will deliver WORLD NEWS from the Blue Room of the White House. The network plans a prime time special -- 'Prescription for America' -- originating from the East Room, exclude opposing voices on the debate. "
______________________________________________________
Really ABC state run media is where we are going now. The mainstream media has been in the tank for the Obama administration since way before he was even elected but this is a little overboard don't you think. I mean at least pretend that you are not salivating at the thought of doing the bidding of the President. So much for the media being objective and presenting people with the facts and letting them make their own decisions. I don't understand how ABC can come back once they go down this road. I mean once you start turning over programming to the White House how can you expect anyone to ever view you as impartial in the future. The Republicans have filed complaints about this but I don't really expect it to do any good. I guess one of the funniest things about all of this is I expected NBC would have been the first to do this. Oh well just another night my TV will be tuned to Fox News.

Glenn Beck's Commen Sense
I will be picking this book up today and will post a review of what I think about it soon. I am a big fan of Glenn and tune into his radio and television show almost every day. I feel that he and I are on the same page when it comes to most issues and even when we don't agree I respect his beliefs. He seems to be really tuned into something that appeals to alot of disenfranchised Americans. I have read some of his others book and enjoyed them very much so hopefully this one is no different.
Intro
Well here goes my first attempt at blogging. I never thought I would be one to blog but I have found myself reading several of them daily and think that the format has some positives. I figured hey if I don't like it I never have to share it with anyone, right?. I will not be blogging everyday and some days I may be blogging multiple times in the same day. This blog will mostly just be my rantings over what is going on with our country today and how we got to this point. I am tired of the bailouts, stimulus bills, progressivism, and non-responsive elected leaders that are far too common these days. We all need to be working every day on changing this and I will have some ideas for that in this blog, but it will mostly just be me getting some things off my chest. Well if anyone starts reading this please let me know what you think.
