So today's installment comes from a lesser known Founder, Dr. Benjamin Rush. Dr. Rush, known as the "Father of American Medicine" was a member of the Continental Congress, signed the Declaration of Independence, and served under five different U.S. presidents. People, myself included, often talk about how brilliant our Founding Fathers were and how they could foresee many of the problems are country would face in the future, well Dr. Rush was no different. As I was doing some reading I came across this brilliant quote:
"Unless we put medical freedom into the constitution the time will come when medicine will organize into an undercover dictatorship and force people who wish doctors and treatment of their own choice to submit to only what the dictating outfit offers."
WOW, this really blew me away when I read it. This is exactly what is happening with the Universal Health Care bill. The administration would have you believe that there will be no forced use of the government healthcare system and that you will be able to continue to keep your private insurance if you want it. Well how long do you think private insurance lasts the way we know it today if they have to compete against the government, which doesn't have to make a profit and can just print more money if they run out. The current House bill also gives the federal government more control over private insurance and how it is run. It also includes a provision that if you lose your current healthcare coverage and can not find a similar (as defined by Washington) program you must get on the government's plan. As well as a requirement that all employers must enroll employees in the government run health plan. So to me it sounds like this would lead us to a place where everyone is on the government run plan without any other options. That is funny considering President Obama is on record of saying ""I happen to be a proponent of a single-payer universal health care program... But as all of you know, we may not get there immediately." Yes, he is out there preaching now that if you like your current plan you will be able to keep it, but for how long? Once we are all on the government plan they will have complete control over what services and medicines we receive or in many cases don't receive. Grandpa need a new kidney, well you know that would just cost too much money and he is already 70 years old and has lived a good life. Let's give him a few tylenol to ease the pain and send him home to die. Get ready America if government health care passes this is exactly what is going to happen. Ask a former member of the military or a patient on medicaid how happy they are with government run healthcare. Dr. Rush foresaw all of this over 200 years ago and could see what a tyrannical thing it would be. Don't believe this is exactly what the administration wants watch this video which outlines exactly how we got here and where they want to go from there.

Great Quote From Glenn Beck Today
"I don't care what the Frenchy frogs think about it. Why are liberals always so concerned about the French and what the French are going do, France is a rat hole. They are setting cars on fire. They are kidnapping their bosses and threatening to blow up automobile plants if they don't get raises. Why would we care about a country that is out of control, filled with beret wearing, wine swilling surrender monkeys?"
--Glenn Beck
This statement came in response to some audio he played of Obama talking about how we can't live our live styles the way we want and expect other countries to be ok with it.

Founding Father's Friday
A little Thomas Jefferson today for Founding Father's Friday.
"When once a republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil."
--Thomas Jefferson
Our Republic has been corrupted for some time and I agree with Jefferson here that we need to remove the corruption and restore the principles to make things right. This starts with identifying what the lost principles are and beginning to restore them. I think that what Glenn Beck has identified at http://www.the912project.com/the-912/ as the nine principles and the twelve values are a good place to start:
9 Principles
1. America Is Good.
2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
12 Values
* Honesty* Reverence* Hope* Thrift* Humility* Charity* Sincerity* Moderation* Hard Work* Courage* Personal Responsibility* Gratitude
The next step is to demand of ourselves that we follow these principles and values. We can not demand of others to live their lives in a way that we are not willing to live our own. Once we accomplish this then it is time to associate with others who are living these principles and encourage our friends and families to live these principles and values. Once we have done this in our communities than the other part of Jefferson's words "removing the corruption" from power becomes much easier. We begin by throwing everyone out of office who doesn't live by these principles (regardless of party) and there are lots of them. We then elect new leaders to replace them who do believe these principles are the way one should live their life. All of these other solutions that we have been trying have not been working. I have been just as guilty as others when it comes to this. I have voted for the lesser of two evils more than once and I will not do it again. I will not sacrifice my beliefs to vote for someone only because he is slightly less evil than the next guy. I am voting for only good, honest politicians from here on out. I am tired of holding my nose while casting my vote because I know that the candidate I am voting for stinks but just slightly less than the other guy. I will vote and campaign for whatever candidate most agrees with me regardless of what party they are in and what chance the experts think they have of winning.

Review of Glenn Beck's "Common Sense"
Well I had some free time over the weekend and finished Glenn Beck's "Common Sense: The Case Against an Out of Control Government". My first thoughts are that Beck did a good job of painting both the Republicans and the Democrats as being at fault for the current situation. He is certainly not a homer for the Republican party and this is one of the things I like about him. He asks us to put aside party label battles and be Americans. He points out that politicians want us fighting amongst each other because it keeps us distracted from the shredding of the U.S. Constitution that is going on in Washington today. Glenn also focuses a large portion of this book on the Progressive movement and how that is the true enemy. The book was only about 100 pages long and I didn't go as in depth as I would have liked. He covers alot of things that if you are a regular follower of his radio and TV show you have heard before, but it is nice to have every thing together you can use as a reference manual. I do think the book does a great job of introducing people to what exactly our government is doing and why they are doing it. I think it is great for stimulating discussion amongst friends who are not very politically in tune and I plan on buying a couple of copies to pass on to others to read and pass on. New book I am reading Mark Levin's "Liberty and Tyranny".

"An Open Letter to our Country" by Janet Contreras
This is a letter that was sent in to Glenn Beck by a concerned patriot. I think this woman has described what many are feeling better than we could describe it ourselves. Thank you for this wonderful letter Ms. Contreras.
I am Janet Contreras, a concerned, home-grown American citizen. I am 53, and I have been a registered Democrat all of my adult life. Before the last Presidential election, I registered Republican because I no longer feel the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. I now no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me.
There must be someone, please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me you are there and are willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please do it now.
You might ask yourselves what my views and issues are that I would feel so horribly disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me? These are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:
* Illegal Immigration—I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S. I am not a racist. This not to be confused with legal immigration.
* TARP Bill—I want it repealed and no further funding supplied to it. We told you “NO!” but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze! Repeal!
* Czars—I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the Czars. No more Czars. Government officials answer to the process not the President. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.
* Cap & Trade—the debate on global warming is NOT over, there IS more to say.
* Universal Health Care—I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don’t you dare pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!
* Growing Government Control—I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Please mind your own business; you have enough to do with your REAL obligations. Let’s start there.
* ACORN—I do not want ACORN or its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them on every real estate deal that closes. Stop all funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audit and investigation. I do not trust them with the taking of the census or with taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before the taxpayers get any further involved with them. It walks like a duck and talks like a duck—hello… stop protecting political buddies. You work for the people. Investigate.
* Redistribution of Wealth—No. If I work for it, it is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth I support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do want me to hate my employers? What do your have against shareholders making a profit?
* Charitable Contributions—although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities where we know our needs best and can use local talent and resources. Butt out, please. We want to do this ourselves.
* Corporate Bail Outs—knock it off! Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we will be better off just getting to it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful, like ripping off a band aid. We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us a chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.
* Transparency and Accountability—how about it? No really, let’s have it. Let’s say we give the “buzz” words a rest and have some straight, honest talk. Please stop trying to manipulate and appease me with cleaver wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.
* Unprecedented Quick Spending—stop it, now. Take a breath. Listen to “The People.”
Let’s just slow down and get some more input from some “non-politicians” on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law.
I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant nor a violent person. I am a mother and grandmother. I am a working woman. I am busy, busy, busy and tired, tired, tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawns and wash our cars on weekends, and be responsible, contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same, all the while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.
I entrusted you with upholding our Constitution and believed in the checks and balances to keep you from getting too far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think that I find humor in hiring a speed reader to unintelligibly ramble through a bill you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not! It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face! I am not laughing—the arrogance!
Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it, but you expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children? We did not want that TARP bill. We said “NO!” We would repeal it if we could. I am not sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all the recent spending. From my perspective, it seems that you have all gone insane.
I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back!
You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington. Our president often knows all the right buzzwords is unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don't want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we're morons.
We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we're so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work , pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn't ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us when hewill rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.
Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don't care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.

Glenn Beck's Commen Sense
I will be picking this book up today and will post a review of what I think about it soon. I am a big fan of Glenn and tune into his radio and television show almost every day. I feel that he and I are on the same page when it comes to most issues and even when we don't agree I respect his beliefs. He seems to be really tuned into something that appeals to alot of disenfranchised Americans. I have read some of his others book and enjoyed them very much so hopefully this one is no different.
